The Department of Parks and Recreation will be offering cheerleading and a non-tackle football program for boys and girls.  Our cheerleaders will cheer for this program.  The cheerleaders will NOT be cheering for an outside organization such as Pop Warner. We may have the opportunity to enter a Cheer Competition as an independent organization, however, the bulk of the program will be cheering for our North Plainfield Recreation football teams in North Plainfield only.

All games will be on Sunday afternoons which will allow our cheerleaders to play soccer on Saturdays if they would like.

Cheerleading will be open for participants in several leagues:  Grades K,1,2; Grades 3,4,5; and Grades 6,7,8, depending on the enrollment of cheerleaders at each level.

The flag and fusion football will be an “in house” non tackle program for boys and girls. Games will be played on Sunday’s allowing kids to continue to play soccer on Saturday’s. Our plan is to allow/afford the kids to participate in both soccer and football without each program interfering with each other.

We are looking to have two flag programs: K-2 grades and 3-4-5 grades. All players in flag football will wear protective headgear and mouth pieces.

6/7/8 graders will wear football helmets and shoulder pads as well as mouth pieces. Please see the you tube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USDXISkycuY

To attract more players, invitations will be going out to our neighboring towns.

Games will be played Sunday afternoons on the turf and Lower Krausche (inside the track) if necessary.
